Brewery news

According to data from the National Statistics Institute (IBGE), in July the price of beer fell both in bars and in retail trade. The average value of the product fell by 0.13% in supermarkets and 0.05% in bars and restaurants, FreshlyBottled.com reported on September 3.

Despite this drop, the accumulated inflation of beer in 2024 is still above the IPCA. So far this year, beer inflation in retail trade was 3.2%, and in bars and restaurants, 3.4%, compared to 2.9% of the IPCA in the same period.

The scenario is similar in the last 12 months, where average beer prices increased by 5.04% in retail trade and 4.85% outside the home, while general inflation was 4.5%.

Salvador (northeast) recorded the highest increase in the price of beer at retail (+1.7%), while outside the home, São Paulo had the highest increase (+1.2%). On the other hand, Campo Grande presented the highest deflation of beer at retail, with a fall of 2.2%.
