A Chaska brewery has announced it will close its doors at the end of the year, Bring Me The News reported on November 29.

Schram Haus Brewery said the cost of running a small brewery at 3700 Chaska Blvd. has become "unsustainable for us moving forward."

"This decision did not come easily, but it is a necessary one," owners Aaron and Ashley Schram announced on social media, adding: "We are incredibly proud of what has been built on this bluff, and we’re deeply grateful to the community that has supported us. We’ve been through a lot together."

The Schrams opened Schram Haus in 2018 on a bluff overlooking Chaska Creek, just to the southwest of downtown Chaska. It was an addition to the couple's 32-acre winery, Schram Vineyards, which they opened in Waconia five years earlier.

The couple say Schram Haus' beer will live on at its Waconia winery, though details on the when and how will follow later.

"We will remain open through the end of the year, and all scheduled December events are still on, including the Holiday Haus Market, live music, comedy night, trivia, and bingo," the couple said. "We hope you’ll join us as we celebrate this final month together."
