Brewery news

Railhead Brewing Company, the trendy Hornell restaurant and night spot known for in-house brewed craft beers and custom pizzas forged in wood-fire ovens, is closing its doors at the end of February after nearly a dozen years in business, The Evening Tribune reported on February 17.

Railhead Brewing owners Dave Woolever and Michael McCumiskey made the announcement in a Facebook post, writing, "The time for Railhead as it currently exists has come to an end."

The post added, "There are so many shared memories with this community, and we will address as much as we can in the coming weeks. For now simply thank you for supporting Railhead over the past 11 years."

The owners said the 40 Park Drive business will be open to the public for the last time on Friday, Feb. 27.

The announcement indicated that the business has been sold, with Railhead stating, "Cheers to new beginnings for this great place and its new ownership."

Railhead Brewing will hold a brewery equipment sale Feb. 20-21. Sale hours both days are 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The business is open 3-10 p.m. Thursday and Friday, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, according to its website.

Woolever and McCumiskey did not immediately return messages seeking comment.
