Brewery news

Heineken France is accelerating its industrial investments in the North. Since 2024, the group has invested €165 million in its breweries in Mons-en-Barœul and Marseille , including €118 million for the Mons-en-Barœul site alone, Entrevue reported on October 3.

The Mons-en-Barœul plant, the group's largest French brewery by volume, produced 3,4 million hectoliters in 2025, a record level for the site. It employs approximately 350 people and ranks among Heineken's top ten European breweries in terms of production capacity.

Located on 22 hectares, the brewery produces, among others, Heineken, Desperados, Affligem, Pelforth, Pelican, and Gallia. Its production facilities allow for up to twenty batches per day, with three bottling lines, one line dedicated to metal kegs, and one canning line. The output can reach 250,000 bottles and cans per hour. The site also preserves several historical elements, including a building dating from 1905 and a former brewhouse from 1925.

Heineken now aims to increase production at the site to 4,5 million hectoliters in the coming years. To support this ramp-up, the brewery has added a second brewhouse equipped with ten tanks. The group is thus relying on Mons-en-Barœul to strengthen its production capacity while maintaining a significant industrial presence in the Hauts-de- France region.

The investments also focus on environmental performance. Between January 2025 and the first half of 2026, the site's water consumption decreased by 13% and its gas consumption by 9%. The brewery notably installed a new wastewater treatment plant and a methanization unit capable of treating all of its effluents. Heineken is thus seeking to combine increased production, industrial modernization, and a reduced energy footprint at its main French site.
