 | E-Malt.com News article: World: Heineken raises €1 billion in two-tranche bond sale
Heineken has placed €1 billion of notes across two tranches, the Dutch brewer said on October 30. The deal splits into €500 million of three-year notes at a 3.750% coupon and €500 million of seven-year notes at 4.125%, maturing in 2029 and 2033, Dealroom.co reported on October 31.
Goldman Sachs, ING, IMI-Intesa Sanpaolo, Santander, and Société Générale acted as active book runners. The notes are issued under Heineken's Euro Medium Term Note Programme and will list on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange.
Heineken said proceeds will go toward general corporate purposes, including debt repayments. The long maturities and stated use point to routine refinancing rather than a shift in strategy.
At €1 billion, the placement ranks in roughly the 32nd percentile by size against comparable debt deals — a sizeable but ordinary capital-markets move for a company of Heineken's scale.
Heineken is the world's second-largest brewer, with a portfolio of more than 340 beer and cider brands and over 87,000 employees across more than 70 countries. The bond sale sits alongside substantial shareholder returns as the company manages its funding needs.
For a blue-chip issuer like Heineken, tapping the euro bond market at fixed coupons near 4% reflects the current cost of long-term corporate debt. The move is about steady balance-sheet management — locking in financing and clearing near-term maturities — rather than fresh ambition.
