Danish brewing group, Carlsberg Breweries A/S, announced on January 17, 2003 that Barry C. Marshall, CEO of the Vena Brewery in St. Petersburg, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Türk Tuborg based in Izmir, Turkey with effect from 1 February 2003.
“The comprehensive business experience of the British born Barry C. Marshall includes a number of positions with British American Tobacco and Rothmans International. Barry C. Marshall has also previously lived in the Mediterranean area working with the creation of business opportunities in Middle Eastern markets,” the company reported.
Barry C. Marshall has worked in Russia for seven years and for the past three years as CEO of the Vena Brewery during which period the Vena Brewery improved its market share and profitability significantly.
Mr. Bjørn Wiggen, Senior Vice President in Carlsberg Breweries who has been acting CEO for Türk Tuborg since October last year, returns to Copenhagen to continue his responsibilities for a region that includes Poland, Croatia, Bulgaria, Malawi, Export & Licence, and Turkey.
Peter Chernyshov has been appointed from February 1, 2003 CEO of the Vena Brewery. He took up the position of Executive Vice President of Vena on 1 January. Before this Peter Chernyshov worked for four years with BBH, initially as Finance Manager Russia and most recently as Chief Financial Officer of the BBH activities in Ukraine.
