E-Malt.com News article: China: Carlsberg joins with Ningxia to produce beer

Danish beer giant Carlsberg A/S has signed an agreement with Ningxia Land Reclamation Enterprise Group on cooperation in beer production, Asia Pulse communicated on November 3.

The cooperation project will require a total investment of 200 million yuan (US$24.7 million) and will produce 200,000 tons of beer each year.

The agreement was based on the letter of intent signed by Carlsberg with the Ningxia group in June 2004 and following the study tour by the company.

The joint venture project is designed to have an annual production capacity of 300,000 liters. The first phase project, which targets at 100,000 liters, is scheduled for completion in 2006; the second phase, with the objective of another 100,000 liters, will start in three years.
