Brewery news

Big Rock Brewery Income Trust Alberta's largest, locally owned and operated brewery announced on December 14 its Traditional Ale has won a Gold Medal at the 2005 Canadian Brewing Awards in the Brown Ale category.

The 2005 awards competition had 48 breweries participating from across Canada with over 230 beers in 21 different categories. The Canadian Brewing Awards is the only contest in Canada that invites breweries from all sizes across the country to compete against each other in a blind taste test. Beers were judged based on appearance, aroma, flavour, mouth-feel and overall impressions.

One of Big Rock's original, flagship brews, Traditional Ale is an all-natural English-style amber ale. With a dark copper colour that flashes garnet when held to the light, Trad's soft but distinctive taste is a carefully crafted balance of malt and hops. Traditional Ale was first brewed in August of 1985.

Big Rock is a regional producer and marketer of premium quality ales and lagers, headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Big Rock's products are available in draught, bottles and cans. Big Rock products are marketed in seven provinces and three territories in Canada.
