E-Malt.com News article: Australian: Queensland brewery to offer reward for Mr Fourex poster
Brewery news

A Queensland brewery is offering 20 cartons of XXXX beer in a bid to recover a massive roadside poster of Mr Fourex, the Australian reported on December 22.

The beloved face of XXXX beer beamed from a giant "skin" poster that was cut down from a billboard on the Centenary Highway at Darra, in Brisbane's south-west, at the weekend.Measuring 18.3m by 6.4m, the poster directed motorists to Castlemaine Perkins' brewery in Milton.

The skin featured Mr Fourex sporting his typical straw boater, big grin and wink with a beer raised in one hand and read "15 km to the finest brewery on earth". It was today replaced with another poster, reading "Reward Offered – For the Safe Return of Mr Fourex to the Finest Brewery (Reward Not Offered to Anyone Connected with the Theft)".

Castlemaine Perkins spokesman Mark Powell said the brewery was offering 20 cases of beer in an attempt to retrieve Mr Fourex.

"After all it is the festive season and 20 cases of beer is a good start, so let's hope they find it in their heart to bring him home," he said."We just want him back. We'd love to have him back before Christmas."

Mr Powell said Mr Fourex's removal was a shock, but also sign of the mascot's popularity. The incident marks the second time Mr Fourex has been abducted. A 6m tall inflatable version of the man was infamously stolen from the Ipswich Races in June 2004 but found 24 hours later beside of a major road more than 20km from where he was taken.
