Brewery news

Scottish & Newcastle PLC, Britains biggest brewer, is to part company with the head of Brasseries Kronenbourg, its French division, amid pressure on sales and margins, Forbes learned September 06 from The Times, citing sources.

It is understood that Didier Lefevre, managing director of Brasseries Kronenbourg for the past four years, is leaving to go to another high-profile job, the newspaper reported.

With over 8 million hl per year, Brasseries Kronenbourg has over 40% of the French market, making the company by far the biggest brewer in the country.

Kronenbourg has been part of Scottish & Newcastle since 19 July 2000. Scottish & Newcastle is the leader in the United Kingdom and the third ranked brewing group in Europe, with output of 50 million hl per year.
