The Board of Scottish & Newcastle, Britain’s leading brewer, announced on April 10 that Tony Froggatt, 54, would become Chief Executive of the group with effect from 12th May 2003. Mr Froggatt has wide experience in the global drinks industry with Cinzano, IDV, and most recently with Seagram group where he was Executive President for Europe, Middle East & Africa, the company said. Brian Stewart, currently Executive Chairman, will hand over executive responsibilities to Tony Froggatt, and become non-executive Chairman from 1st July.
“Tony Froggatt has an excellent record in developing international drinks businesses and brands, and his appointment will add to the strength and depth of a talented management team,” said Brian Stewart.
“Mr. Froggatt, who has dual British and Australian nationality, has enjoyed a highly successful international career, working for world class companies such as Gillette and HJ Heinz, as well as gaining wide experience in the international drinks industry and operating successful and high profile joint ventures. At both these companies he delivered impressive profit growth through a clear focus on brands, and by integrating and improving business performance across several European markets. The company has developed impressive strategic positions and excellent commercial relationships in many of the biggest and best beer markets in Europe and beyond,” the company reported.
