Mild temperatures and dry conditions during the month of March have favoured the spring sowings in Western Europe. Beside Scandinavia, most of the spring barley is now planted. The total acreage increased with 140 thousand ha compared with last year acreage, especially because of the frost-related damage suffered by the winter plantings.
