Brewery news

Russians still prefer drinking beer and vodka despite a drastic increase in wine production, Interfax reported November 2.

Russians consumed 11 million hectoliters of alcoholic brewages in January-September 2007, which is an increase of 1.44 million hectoliters compared to the same period last year, the Federation Council's expert and advisory committee for economic policy, entrepreneurship, and property said.

Beer is accounted for 24.1% of all alcoholic brewages consumed in Russia in January-September 2006, while wine consumption stood at 5.8%.
