The Anheuser-Busch Cos. Inc. board of directors’ compensation committee doled out $4.8 million in 2007 bonuses to top executives, according to a regulatory filing Feb. 1 with the Securities and Exchange Commission, St. Louis Business Journal published February 7.

The bonuses were awarded because the company met a specified level of pre-tax earnings for 2007 as its performance goal, though the filing did not say what exactly the goal was.

President and CEO August Busch IV received the largest bonus taking in $2.5 million.

W. Randolph Baker, vice president and chief financial officer, received $650,000.

Mark Bobak, group vice president and chief legal officer, took home $600,000. Bobak resigned from the company on Dec. 31 to start his own firm. Gary Rutledge was named his replacement.

Douglas Muhleman, group vice president -- Brewing, Operations and Technology for Anheuser-Busch Inc., received $545,000.

Michael Owens, vice president -- Business Operations for Anheuser-Busch Inc. received a $475,000 bonus.

St. Louis-based Anheuser-Busch Cos. Inc., the largest domestic brewer, manufactures and recycles aluminum cans and operates theme parks.
