Bottling and Brewing Group Limited (BBGL) added Tuborg to its brands of beers at a function held in Blantyre, The Daily Times reported March 3.

The company’s Senior Brands Manager Reginald Njiragoma said Tuborg, which is imported from Denmark, is expected to fit into the country’s premium brands of beer.

“When you consider the beers in country there are several segments and Tuborg is coming to fit the premium segment.

This brand is one of the biggest in Denmark and we hope our customers will patronise it the same way as they do with other beers,” said Njiragoma.

The beer is packed in 330 ml bottles and has 2 types which are Tuborg Green and Gold.

Queried on why BBGL has decided to introduce the beer now when there are varied types of similar brands on the market, the company’s spokesperson Gwynyth Chisale said they want to offer a wide range of tastes to customers.

“We used to brew Tuborg locally from 1988 to 1989 but the company made a business decision to stop and now we are importing the beer straight from Denmark. It is produced under Carlsberg brands,” said Chisale.

The recommended retail price for a bottle is K280 while the wholesale price is K220.

BBGL is the official trader of Carlsberg brands in Malawi which includes Carlsberg Green, Brown, Special Brew and Stout and locally brewed Kuche-Kuche.
