Brewery news

Cyprus’ Photos Photiades Breweries said its Leon beer continues to gain popularity among locals and tourists, Financial Mirror reported on June, 5.

Last year, sales of Leon beer grew to 5 mln bottles, or 1.65 mln litres, reaching a market share of 4.1% among the local beers.

The island’s beer market is dominated by Carlsberg and Keo, the only domestic brand in widespread national distribution.

With its claim-to-fame being that it is the oldest brew in Cyprus since 1937, Leon sales are expected to exceed last year’s levels and possibly reach a new record in 2009. A company announcement said this confidence is based on healthy sales reported in the first four months of this year.
