Brewery news

Czech brewer Plzeňský Prazdroj announced on November, 30 it will be modifying its prices from the 1st January 2010, in order to accurately reflect the recently imposed increases on excise duty and VAT.

From January 2010 prices will increase on average by 4.6% (around CZK 0.6 and CZK 1 per half litre) in line with the combined effect of the excise and VAT changes, the company said.

"This price modification will not bring any benefits to our company as we are simply reflecting the increased excise duty on beer and the 1% increase in VAT. In fact PPAS will be absorbing the impact of increased excise tax on fuel as well as the increase in social contributions which are also components of the government's fiscal package" says the Sales and Trade Marketing Director of Plzeňský Prazdroj Tiarnán Ó hAimhirgín.

Information concerning the price adjustment has been, or will soon be, distributed to all business partners in line with our business terms and conditions. The new price list will come into effect as of January 1, 2010, the brewer said.
