Brewery news

Rahr & Sons Brewery in Fort Worth has four new beers it'll introduce this year, including a pilsner with a catchy name, Pegasus News reported on April, 27.

1. Pecker Wrecker is slated for release in May and is described on the label as "ALL IMPERIAL": As in, "huge amounts of hop characteristics will explode in your mouth delivering you into the malty backbone present in this pilsner."

2. Sometime around July, the brewery will release La Grange Farmhouse Ale, also known as a saison: "'Saison' is French for season, referring to an ale that is traditionally brewed in farmhouses in southern Belgium for the late summer harvest. Our La Grange is a sturdy farmhouse ale that is very complex with a myriad of esters ranging in fruit-like aromas to earth yeast tones. It is dry and refreshing, perfect for your late summer thirst. ... It's in the generous giving of malts and hops that produces this bountiful yield."

3. Slated for August is Gravel Road, a "German-style Altbier that has an amber hue and great balance of rich malt and assertive hops," dubbed a tribute to the life where "there are gravel roads with gentle slopes and no signposts."

4. In September comes Angry Goat Weizen Doppelbock -- again, to the label: "Angry Goat ain't no sissy Weizen doppelbock, it is bold and will slap you in the face! ... It is complex with pronounced dark malt flavors that are complemented by the estery banana and clove, like flavors found in any good Weizen Doppelbock. Traditionally, there was an ordinance in Germany that reserved this style for the sole consumption of the royal family. Now they are for everyone."
