Brewery news

Loveland is experiencing its own brewery boom as local craft brewers report not being able to keep up with the demand for their brews, Coloradoan.com reported on November, 2.

Big Beaver Brewing Co., after just a year in business, is 2 ˝ years ahead of sales projections, said owner and master brewer Peter Villeneuve.

“It’s going amazing,” he said. “I knew right away, when people brought their friends (we would expand)”.

The brewery plans to double its space and add two new 10 barrel fermenters bringing the brewing capacity from 4 barrels to 10 barrels. While Big Beaver has all the equipment, it is expected to take two months to complete the installation.

In addition to increasing its brewing, Big Beaver is adding a new tasting room.

Villeneuve said he attributes the brewery’s success and rapid growth to his customers bringing in friends who in turn brought in more friends.

Villeneuve said he operates his brewery like a community-supported agriculture, or CSA, but the Loveland brewer is pioneering a new twist on the age-old concept with a community supported brewery, or CSB. The brewery has more than 1,000 members who have special privileges that includes free pints and buy one get one growler fills, he said. The brewery is also open to the general public.
