Up to 60 new jobs could be created at the Carlsberg brewery in Northamptonshire if expansion plans are given the go-ahead, BBC reported on February, 14.

Proposals for a new bottling plant will be discussed by the West Northamptonshire Development Corporation (WNDC) committee later.

A new building facing Bridge Street in Northampton would contain offices and the bottling hall with a car park.

Officers have recommended the corporation approves the plans.

Matt Callan, brewery supply chain director, said: "The jobs will be in manufacturing, engineering, some in management and others for forklift driving."

Carlsberg has recently invested £40 mln in upgrading the capacity and capability of the plant in Northampton.

Mr Callan added: "We had two breweries in the UK - at Leeds and Northampton - and now we've consolidated our production to Northampton."
