Beer consumption in the Dominican Republic fell 2.7% in the first four months this year compared to the same period a year ago, from 5.9 million litres to 5.7 million litres, DominicanToday reported on July, 24.

Beer consumption last year climbed 2.9% higher than the previous year, from 18.4 million litres to 18.9 million litres, according to Internal Taxes Agency (DGII) figures cited by diariolibre.com.

January beer consumption was 1.3 million litres, rising to 1.4 million in litres February; 1.6 million in March, but it fell to 1.4 million litres in April.

The highest consumption in the last five years was registered in 2011, at 18.9 million litres.
