Brewery news

Baltimore-based National Brewing Company (NBC) is all set to expand the production of its National Premium craft beer and enter into new markets, The Drinks Business Review reported on July, 24.

Introduced for sale in Maryland during Memorial Day weekend, the trademark rights for the National Premium beer was purchased in 2010 by NBC president Tim Miller.

To make the beer, NBC has partnered with Delaware-based Coastal Brewery that bottles and packages the beer for distribution.

Miller said that the company currently sells 2,000 cases of National Premium beer per month in 500 liquor stores and bars in Maryland.

The beer will be introduced in Washington DC in August 2012. The brewery further plans to sell around 100,000 cases per month by 2014 and make it available in restaurants.

NBC communications director Matt Oczkowski said that the company intends to open its own brewery someday, possibly in Easton, and also intends to broaden the variety of beer it makes beyond its current European-style pilsner.
