| E-Malt.com News article: Spain & India: Mahou-San Miguel to start export of Mahou beer in India this month
Spainish Mahou-San Miguel announced on September, 13 that it will import its Mahou beer into India from this month and produce another unspecified brew in a tie-up with Indian FMCG firm, VI-John Group.
“Mahou will sell at a super premium beer price point of INR130-150 (US$2.40-2.76) in the Delhi market and surrounding areas and will be wholly imported”, said Alberto Rodriguez-Toquero Ramos, director-general of the Spanish company.
The group also announced that an existing beer brand of the VI-John Group, Dare Devil 10000 Premium, will now be jointly produced at the Arian Breweries and Distilleries near Delhi, a 50/50 JV between the companies.
The brewery, set up by VI-John Group, became fully operational in March this year and was already was ‘soft-producing’ the Dare Devil brand. Mahou-San Miguel picked up its stake in the brewery in April.
Both Mahou and Dare Devil 10000 will be launched across markets in five states of north India.
Mahou-San Miguel produces around 165 mln cases of beer annually and contributes to 75% of all beer exported out of Spain.
