Zimbabwe’s Delta Corporation, which is 36% owned by SABMiller, has installed a new US$17 mln bottling line at its Southerton plant to increase production, Bernama reported on November, 1.

The new plant, to be commissioned next week, has the capacity to produce 70 mln litres per annum, or 42,000 pint bottles per hour, Corporate Director George Mutendadzamera said.

Delta Corporation has invested more than US$200 mln on its production facilities since 2009 to improve capacity.

Mr. Mutendadzamera said the company was also investing in new fermentation vessels at both the Southerton and Belmont lager plants.

“This will cost in excess of US$4 mln, and the impact will be significant as it will place us in a position to adequately meet lager demand for the foreseeable future,” he said.
