Brewery news

Baltimore’s Clipper City Brewing - producer of the Heavy Seas craft beer brand - has unveiled the first entry in its new Uncharted Waters specialty series, Heavy Seas Siren Noire Imperial Chocolate Stout Aged in Bourbon Barrels, Shanken News Daily reported on December, 20.

A variation of the brewer’s existing Siren Noire, the 9.5%-abv offering is brewed with Belgian cacao nibs, which provide a chocolate flavor profile. After fermentation the new version is aged in Bourbon barrels along with Bourbon-Madagascar vanilla beans.

Concurrently, Heavy Seas has announced the return of its Black Cannon Black IPA, a 7.25%-abv seasonal offering. Available from January through March, Black Cannon is a variation of the brand’s flagship Loose Cannon, featuring a more roasted character.

Founded in 1994, Clipper City’s Heavy Seas range - which includes a variety of year-round, seasonal, classic and specialty beer offerings - is available in 18 states and Washington, D.C.
