Lakefront Brewery Inc. and Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Co. are again teaming up to concoct a limited edition beer, bizjournals.com reported on March, 4.

This year’s collaboration produced Checkpoint Charlie, a Berliner Weisse beer that will be available during the Wisconsin Restaurant Expo running March 11-13 at the Delta Center in downtown Milwaukee, and on tap at several Milwaukee-area bars during Craft Beer Week, from May 12-18.

It’s the third consecutive year the two brewers have joined up to make a special beer. The others were Oaty Goat Doppelbock and Rye Road.

“We’ve had fun collaborating with Leinenkugel’s the past few years, and even more importantly, we’ve enjoyed drinking the beer we’ve brewed,” said Russ Klisch, president of Milwaukee-based Lakefront Brewery. “I think people will find Checkpoint Charlie to be an interesting and flavorful beer experience, which is what we aimed to create.”

Chippewa Falls-based Leinenkugel is a unit of Tenth and Blake Beer Co., the craft brewing division of Chicago-based joint venture MillerCoors LLC, which has a large brewery and administrative offices on Milwaukee’s west side.
