Brewery news

Back in December, Ottawa’s Beyond the Pale Brewing had so much success in its opening year that owners Shane Clark, Al Clark and Robert McIsaac were already putting plans in place for a large expansion in 2014. Now those plans are about to become reality, Canadian Beer News reported on February 27.

According to Shane Clark, the brewery will be moving a few blocks east to a new 8,000 square foot space - quadruple the size of its current location.

The move will include the installation of a new 15 barrel brewing system, up from the 3.5 barrel system currently in use. This will allow Beyond the Pale to reduce production hours – currently running up to 20 hours a day, six days a week – while still producing more beer.

Clark says that work on the new location will start next month, with a tentative opening date of August. It will initially be a production-only brewery, with the retail store and tasting room remaining at the current Hamilton St. location, although all operations may eventually be consolidated at the new address.
