USA, Colorado: Rock Bottom Restaurants, Inc., the leading restaurant brewery group producing the highest volume of beer per year, proudly took home five medals at the 2004 Association of Brewers World Beer Cup held on April 17th, in San Diego, California, PRNewswire posted on April 28.

Rock Bottom Brewmasters were awarded the following: - A Gold Medal in the "English-Style Strong Bitter" category, for "Black Sheep ESB" brewed by Brewmaster, Marty Mendiola at the La Jolla, CA location; - A Gold Medal in the "German-Style Kolsch" category for "Mother Martha's Kolsch" brewed by Brewmaster, Mike Barker at the Arlington, VA location; - A Silver Medal in the "Scottish-Style Ale" category for "Highland Courage" brewed by Brewmaster, Geoff Lively at the Bethesda, MD location; - A Silver Medal in the "German-Style Brown Ale" category for "Terrapin Ale" brewed by Brewmaster, Geoff Lively at the Bethesda, MD location. This is the second medal for Mr. Lively at the 2004 competition; - A Silver Medal in the "Wood & Barrel-aged Beer" category for "Redline Imperial Bourbon Stout" brewed by Brewmaster, Pete Crowley at the Chicago, IL location.

The Association of Brewers World Beer Cup is the largest and most diverse competition among brewers worldwide with more than 1500 entries from 393 breweries in 40 countries. The World Beer Cup was founded to create greater consumer awareness around the world about the quality and diversity displayed by the various beers of the world.

Based in Louisville, CO, Rock Bottom Restaurants, Inc. owns and operates 88 restaurants throughout the United States - 54 "Old Chicago" restaurants and 34 brewery restaurants operating under the names "Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery," "ChopHouse & Brewery" and "Walnut Brewery." The company also owns and operates SingSing, a dueling piano bar concept with three locations. Since its privatization in August 1999, 27 new restaurants have been added and average annual sales are approximately $251 million.
