Australia & Denmark: Adelaide-based Coopers Brewery has sent its first shipment of beer to Denmark, the company announced in a press release on May 12. The shipment of Coopers Pale Ale, Coopers Sparkling Ale and Coopers Stout arrived in Copenhagen earlier this month. Coopers Marketing Director, Mr Glenn Cooper, said the order had resulted from the enormous interest in Australia generated by the impending Royal Wedding between Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark and Australia’s Mary Donaldson.

“In the build-up to the wedding, Australian produce has developed a very high profile in Denmark,” he said. “We have been able to translate this interest into an initial order for our beer. “Denmark has a strong beer culture and we are hopeful that we will be able to develop a sustainable niche market in that country.”

Mr Cooper said it was nice to think that Danish beer drinkers could now celebrate the Royal Wedding with a glass of Coopers. He said it was the first time that Coopers had exported to Denmark, although beer had previously been sold to neighbouring Scandinavian countries.

“Exporting to Denmark will further strengthen Coopers international profile, and provide a platform to showcase some of the unique flavours of South Australia’s food and beverage industry,” he said. Coopers currently exports beers to a number of countries around the world, including the United Kingdom and United States, New Zealand, Canada, Japan, China, Singapore, Italy, South Africa, Korea, France, Belgium, Chile and Taiwan.
