Brewery news

Columbus may have lost out on Stone Brewing Co., but it looks like it will gain a BrewDog production brewery. The Scottish brewery which says that it makes "hardcore beers for punks" announced on its website that it is looking into opening a production brewery in the community, Columbus Underground reports on April 27.

"We are also delighted to announce that we are in advance discussions for a site in Columbus, Ohio that would house our USA production brewery," the brewery said on its blog. "We will hopefully be able to provide you all with more of an update on this as soon as we can. In the meantime, we will continue to work hard to make this plan a reality!"

A few people already have posted on the blog, welcoming BrewDog to the state capital, which prompted the brewery to respond: "Thanks for the good wishes, we can't wait to progress discussions and hopefully get everything sorted. Columbus is a great beer town and we can't wait to play a part in that."

Stone looked into building a brewery in the community last year, ultimately deciding to open in Richmond, VA. Stone co-founder Greg Koch, who grew up in Pataskala and knew that BrewDog was looking for a site, mentioned on Facebook in January that he will put in a good word for Columbus.
