Scholb Brewing Co. has won planning approval for a light-manufacturing facility in Torrance that will become the city’s sixth production brewery when it opens later this year, The Daily Breeze reported on August 6.

The Torrance Planning Commission on August 5 unanimously approved the operation of the 7,075-square-foot brewery and tasting room on Columbia Street at the Torrance Matrix business park

“The management team has selected the city of Torrance due to its balance between industry and community and because of its emerging reputation as a craft beer destination,” CEO Allison Kolb wrote in a letter to the panel. “This new craft beer culture emphasizes quality over quantity and features many varied and ever-evolving styles. Customers, as well as the brewery owners themselves, feel they are a part of a growing movement which is truly transforming the beer industry.”

Torrance community has earned a reputation as a hub of the county’s rapidly growing craft beer industry.
