Interbrew will look to break out of the southeast of China if the opportunity arises, according to press reports. La Libre Belgique reports today that the brewer will continue to develop in the six key Chinese provinces, citing Interbrew’s Asia-Pacific president Patrice Thys.

The brewing giant is currently concentrated in the southeast of the country and the coastal region surrounding Shanghai. Thuys told the newspaper that his company is willing to expand out of these provinces if the opportunity arises, but only “with the ambition to be No. 1 or 2.”
