Brewery news

Black Hammer Brewing, a new brewery from former chemical engineer and award-winning home brewer Jim Furman and Bryan Hermannsson (Pacific Brewing Laboratory), has unofficially opened its doors. Inside Scoop confirms the SoMa brewery is now serving up pints and pitchers in the cozy space on Bryant Streetin San Francisco, Eater SF reported on August 24.

Beer enthusiasts will be excited to try German-made brewhaus to craft barrels of Kölsch, Oktoberfest, Squid Ink IPA, Sacre Bleu Blueberry Wit, Jaded Raver English Ale, Nautilus Hibiscus Saison, and Houston, We Have a Porter. Though Hermannsson has the title of Head Brewer, he tells Inside Scoop that he and partner Jim Furman collaborate on the beers together. "Jim has all his own recipes; I have my own Pac recipes. But we are maintaining our separate brands for offsite sales and to maintain our identities."

Until the brewing equipment is installed, the space will function as a tasting room.
