E-Malt.com News article: USA, TX: Thirsty Planet Brewing expands with additional building in Austin
Brewery news

Thirsty Planet Brewing Company is expanding with an additional building for beer production out in far south Austin, as reported by Austin 360.

The brewery is taking over the Capital Area Food Bank spot on 8201 South Congress Avenue. The grounds will include a new tasting room and outdoor performance area. It is expected to open by late fall this year.

St. Louis-based firm V Three Studios is designing the expansion, which will be heavy on the signature light green motif, along with wood details, communal seating, and a patio within the nearly 60,000 square foot space. Guests will be able to watch the brewery magic from inside the tasting room through glass windows.

The expansion will allow Thirsty to bottle more beers, including Buckethead IPA and Yellow Armadillo. The brewery will also be able to experiment with new types of beers, as well as broaden distribution.

Currently, the brewery is found over on Circle Drive, near Jester King Brewery. The charity-focused brewery donates various proceeds to charities, including over half the sales of the Silverback Pale Ale to the Mountain Gorilla Conservation Fund. Owner Brian Smittle founded Thirsty Planet in 2010 after running Coach’s, a brewpub in Oklahoma.
