Brewery news

A new brewery named after British Columbia’s longest and most iconic highway is set to open this summer in the Okanagan Valley, Canadian Beer News reported.

Highway 97 Brewery will be the fourth brewery in the city of Penticton, and takes its name from B.C. Highway 97 which runs more than 2000 km from the U.S. border in the south to the Yukon border in the north.

Aiming to open in July, Highway 97 will feature a locally-built brewhouse from Biron Stainless that will be used to brew four core brands – Amber Ale, IPA, Scotch Ale and Pilsner – as well as a rotating seasonal session beer, all using locally-sourced ingredients whenever possible.

Highway 97 Brewery will be located at 954 Eckhardt Ave West in Penticton, and will feature a tasting room and retail store in a warehouse-style environment. Its beers will also be available at liquor retailers in British Columbia and Alberta.
