Ukraine: Stocks of old crop feed barley owned by traders remained quite high thus showing large exports during the last month of the season. Moreover there is a possibility that in the second half of the month new barley crop was added to it. Preliminary data of official statistics shows that barley exports in June equaled 112.7 thousand tonnes totally worth $15.5 million (a month ago - 136.6 thousand tonnes worth $19.1 million), according to Proagro.com. Actual shipments via seaports in June added up to 150 thousand tonnes (in May - 86.2 thousand tonnes). In June we also saw exports, which were declared at the customs back in May.

Export price for Ukrainian barley exported kept going down. The average export price during the month in review lost $2.5/t. In June the average export price for barley equaled $137.25/t(a month ago - $139.75/t) CPT/FOB/DAF Ukraine. In June the key export shipments of Ukrainian feed barley went to Saudi Arabia (shipments during the month in review ranged 58.9 ths. t, of which customs office declared in June 41.7 ths. t) plus Jordan (declared and shipped 46.3 ths. t).

In addition sea shipments towards Israel equaled 10.3 ths. t(which almost goes in line with official statistics), Kuwait– 34.5 ths. t(the major part of the volume was custom cleared back in May). In June railway deliveries to neighboring Belarus added up to 9.3 ths. t of barley (a month ago - 3.6 ths. t).
The leading Ukrainian barley exporter remained the same "Serna" (meaning Glencore International AG) – which during the month in review exported around 50 ths. t of feed barley.

Large exports (to Saudi Arabia) were made by "EvroTek" and "Alfred Toepfer International (Ukraine)". Way behind the leaders you can see "AgroTekh" (deliveries to Greece and Israel), "ProdExportAgro" (Israel) and "JSC Cargill" (deliveries to Belarus). Israel oriented companies included also "Westa Opt", "AgroNaftoServis-ST", "Vector Oil Trade", while Belarus oriented were the rest of the companies listed in our barley exports rating.

The largest foreign operator on the Ukrainian barley export market remains Glencore International AG (in June shipments to Jordan and Kuwait).
The second largest trader in June was Alfred C.Toepfer International GmbH (shipment to Saudi Arabia). The same destination but smaller volume was chosen by Yurol UK Ltd.

Euro Grain AG made deliveries to European south and Israel. Iridium Partners LLC, WJ Grain Ltd, Gran Trade Com Limited, Grain Trading Co. Ltd and Widenet Com Limited were Israel oriented.

The rest market operators stood behind rail deliveries to Belarus (direct purchases were made by Belarusian companies like "Teterevka", "Gudevichi" and Zhabinkovskiy feed mill).

During July we forecast feed barley exports to reach 100 ths. t, predominantly the new crop barley however barley produced in 2003 will still be there. These may be shipments towards Saudi Arabia and Lybia by vessels.
