Brewery news

There’s a new brewery in the Ballard Brewery District: It’s called Distant West, and it’s setting up shop in Reuben’s Brews original location at 1406 NW 53rd St., My Ballard reported on January 30.

Distant West owner Greg Macaulay took over the space last summer and has been slowly turning it into a fully functioning brewery. He’s been softly opening the microbrewery over the past month, but his website shows he plans to be fully open by February.

Reuben’s Brews moved out of the space last year after 11 years there. It was Reuben’s first home in Ballard before the brewery expanded to its bigger taproom at 5010 14th Ave NW. Reuben’s now also has a larger production facility at 4700 9th Ave NW, plus its more recently opened Fremont location (4401 Fremont Ave N).
