First Federation company, the former exclusive distributor of Heineken beer in Russia, intends to sue the Dutch brewer for concealing the plans to begin brewing its brand locally at Bravo plant from the middle of 2003. First Federation is reportedly suing Heineken for US$60m, with the first hearing scheduled to take place in Amsterdam on March 3.

In 2002, Heineken sold some 1.2 million litres of Heineken beer in Russia – about 10% of all imported beer in the country, Business Analytica reported. First Federation used to be the exclusive distributor of Heineken beer in Russia from 1996 till 2000 year. Since 2000 First Federation has been selling Heineken beer along with another Russian company Altimex.
