Russian brewer OAO Vena, based in St. Petersburg city has registered good results for the first quarter of the current year, according to Russian Beer Union. The company reported 15% increase of production sales up to 27.6 million litres if compared to the first quarter 2002. According to P. Chernishev, General Director of the company, only beer sales volumes reached 23.8 million litres or a 15.4% rise. Sales volumes of Nevskoe brand, the most popular brand of Vena, increased by 11% and accounted 86% of all sales volumes.

In order to increase further beer sales and to strengthen the company position on the market, Vena intends to open offices in 23 towns of Russia to work with local distributors.

For the coming 300 anniversary of St. Petersburg city Vena will launch a new brand Nevskoe Triumph with 5% alcohol content prepared form four malt varieties: light, caramel, roasted and dark.

Vena plant was created in 1872 year. At that time, one of the founders was the Austrian brewer Liesener Brauerei. Nowadays, the main owner of the company is Dutch brewing trust Carlsberg Breweries A/S (49,9% shares). The leading brands of Vena are Nevskoe and Tuborg.
